Olá a todos os amantes de cinema!

O mês de Novembro é indiscutivelmente um dos mais ricos e diversificados do ano cinematográfico de 2003, senão vejamos: temos em cartaz Kill Bill - Vol. 1 o 4º filme (e que filme!) desse génio chamado Quentin Tarantino; de seguida temos um dos filmes mais arrojados e inclassificáveis (no seu género fí­lmico) do realizador Lars Von Trier,Dogville, gerador de opiniões extremamente opostas; seguem-se o comovente filme Whale Rider de Niki Caro, a nova obra de Kevin Coster (Open Range), que tem tido um carreira desastrosa nos últimos anos; o novo filme de François Ozon , o muito aclamado Swimming Pool; o muito aguardado Matrix Revolutions dos irmãos Wachowski e Os Imortais de António-Pedro Vasconcelos.

Breve comentário: Poucos são os realizadores que no mundo do cinema se podem dar ao luxo de com apenas três filmes no currí­culo serem considerados um dos mais influentes e importantes cineastas de todos os tempos- Quentin Tarantino é um desses raros casos. Nascido nos E.U.A, a 27 de Março de 1963, QT antes de ser actor, realizador, argumentista e produtor é um GRANDE cinéfilo, com um base de conhecimentos cinematográficos vastí­ssima- como tal não necessitou de qualquer curso académico para realizar um dos melhores filmes dos anos 90: o inolvidável Pulp Fiction (1994), recorrendo unicamente a múltiplas referências dos inúmeros filmes que viu no decorrer da sua vida. Kill Bill: Vol. 1 é um filme de filmes, baseado em variadí­ssimos géneros (western spaghetti, animação nipónica, giallos italianos, kung fu...) e que resulta muití­ssimo bem na homenagem que faz a todos eles; apesar de ser pontuado por momentos de inegá¡vel beleza estética/poética e sonoridade divina , nota-se claramente a falta do humor negro e diálogos mordazes tão pantentes nos filmes anteriores (para além do já referido PF temos igualmente o bombástico e sangrento filme de estreia de Tarantino na realização, Reservoir Dogs/Cães Danados(1992) e Jackie Brown (1997)). Resumindo: Kill Bill: Vol. 1 é um festim visual e musical que carece do sumo narrativo característico nos filmes do realizador.

Breve comentá¡rio: José Vieira Mendes escreve na PREMIERE (Ano 4; nº 48; Outubro 2003) uma frase que na minha opinião sintetiza todo o filme : " Dogville é um objecto deslumbrante mas muito difícil de definir, pois a natureza da sua proposta é tão arrojada, inovadora e bela, que não tem parâmetros conhecidos, creio, na história do cinema mundial". Dogville é de facto uma obra sem paralelo na história do cinema, fundindo o teatro e a sétima arte num só, criando assim sentimentos de amor-ódio (uns dizem que é uma obra-prima sem igual, outros referem que não passa de um devaneio do realizador). O filme pontua pelo argumento forte e lacónico (que desenha um quadro pitoresco de uma América profunda e deprimida dos anos 30, onde os sete pecados mortais são o "pão nosso do dia-a-dia"!), fotografia de Anthony Dod Mantle, ausência de cenários , elenco talentoso (destaco a talentosa actriz oscarizada Nicole Kidman que prova aqui ser uma das melhores actrizes de sempre e ainda a ressuscitada Lauren Bacall) e originalidade; no lado negativo refere-se obviamente a ousadia implícita na feitura do filme, algo que poderá levar á revolta de determinados espectadores.

Breve comentário: Filmado na belíssima aldeia Whangara (Nova Zelândia), Whale Rider é um filme intimista e femeninista (à semelhança da obra comovente The Piano / "O Piano" (1993), de Jane Campion). A pequena jovem actriz Keisha Castle-Hughes é para Whale Rider o que Anna Paquin foi para a obra de Campion- o seu talento é enorme e a sua prestação magnética. Uma obra a não perder pela beleza e impacto das imagens simbólicas e mensagem subjacente.

Breve comentário: Elephant é seguramente na minha opinião um dos melhores filmes do ano (a par de Cidade de Deus, 25th Hour, Ying xiong (Hero), Good bye, Lenin! e The Hours). A realização experimentalista de Gus Van Sant é prodigiosa pois não tem como finalidade justificar a tragédia do liceu Columbine, saber quais as causas de tal acontecimento fatídico, mas sim seguir os passos de vários adolescentes durante o seu dia-a-dia segundo vários pontos de vista ou prespectivas. É acima de tudo um filme sensacionista, opondo-se claramente à racionalidade patente no documentário de Michael Moore Bowling for Columbine - no decorrer do filme os sentimentos desnudam-se e os corpos deambulam; à semelhança de outro filme, Mystic River de Clint Eastwood, é um obra fílmica que aborda temas polémicos (homossexualidade, porte de armas de fogo, etc.), expondo inteligentemente as feridas profundas de uma América que uns querem esconder a todo custo e que outros pretendem denunciar e resolver sem demora. Por ser um filme deixa mais perguntas que respostas, Elephant é um objecto cinematográfico controverso, ousado e radical mas também genial, brilhante e inesquecível. O elenco amador, a fotografia (e suas tonalidades vivas, puras e fortes), a música (imprescindível na descrição psicológica/emocional das personagens- lembro-me perfeitamente de uma cena fabulosa em que um dos jovens conturbados toca no piano um excerto da sétima sinfonia de Beethoven - foi um momento divino que me devolveu o sentimento de PRAZER cinematográfico há muito tempo perdido) e a montagem são destaques óbvios num filme tecnicamente quase perfeita.
